Think I am in will dig up a Russian force.
After doing great amounts of research into Napoleonic warfare as conducted by the Russians it would appear that to win the war all I have to do is lose every battle.

Stuff is ready, a few unpainted bits coming because they are in the box, not expecting to use them (civilians and a few extra officers), also the suitable terrain I have so a small villa, a decent sized pub, fences, and some assorted wildlife.

printed off the FAQ and also the 100 days campaign stuff is anyone fancies a read, and have the Russian army list as well just in case

just bringing the French with me as they occupy three boxes just for them these days

Game looked great, bit of a breakthrough on your left and it would have been closer.
Frontal attack against line of British muskets and rifles is hard.

Maybe attack columns but how to stop enemy hitting the front of each with concentrated fire.

Had I left the cavalry back another turn, or managed to activate my main line to fire before Dave's cavalry cleared their fire lane I suspect the game may have ended differently - that British line was wavering, still had a few more turns but the Status 3 officer leading it was fully occupied trying to manage shock so all they could do was keep firing and unable to change position - perilously close the the board edge.

Helped Dave's four British units were facing six of mine, yes his fire was more accurate but it wasn't long before I'm exceeding his casualty rate by weight of fire - the key was the position, both a bonus and a curse as it provided the cover we both really needed but it also stopped my line from charging without a lot of faffing about, should really have split my main unit into two groups and had one fire while the other lined up to charge behind the woods along Dave's table edge where my Cavalry tried and failed to go.

was nice having my own cannon, still not really got an answer to riflemen and their "reach out and touch someone" ability to lay accurate fire most of the way over the table.

I think you can go in from the front, my other unit were planning to before "issues of management" shall we say delayed them, idea was have them go forwards and have the other lot come in from the sides.

It nearly worked (I.e. it didn't work) but was by a mile the closest game we have had so far, much better deployment helped, ditto having 7 officers so most turns a fair bit activated and I had the more junior ones to manage shock and admin type work.

it is a wonderful set of rules and I suspect I'm starting to better get a grip of traffic management stuff to avoid being under my own feet - "Exploring Officer" is gold for three points, the extra deployment point and the extra deployment range is huge
