Strength and Honour

Post by leopard »

excellent games today, as usual we got a few details incorrect, nothing too major and part of learning the game - we caught and corrected a load during the first and second games too..

Homuncules est!
page 49 gives quite a clear sequence for this..
1. call it, then if not cancelled:
2. total the number on the cards
3. if less than break point but more than half, army is fatigued, if equal to or more than break point army breaks
4. if nor broken then discard a card (i.e. after determining if fatigued)
5. if army is not broken a reversal of fortune occurs

we got 4. wrong and discarded before counting the total for fatigue, its after, also there is the reversal of fortune if you don't break (this applies even if you fatigue - so you can't do it and then carry on attacking)

shooting (not that we did any) is not the same as melee, it uses a different table with different results

failed discipline tests can get evil, if you fail the test and roll a double the amount you fail by (not the dice total) is applied as a modifier so fail with a double six and much more likely to rout.. ouch

movement out of or within (but not to enter) a zone of control is a manoeuvre test, failure being the usual reversal of fortune (you test once, not once per zone of control - but you do test each square of movement), it is as such a lot harder to just move past an enemy adjacent to them - except when following up post combat when ZoC is ignored

all in all a good game, have also found some 3d printer files for S&H models which I'm going to have an experiment with

Its a very good game, though I'm still wondering what the benefit of actual models for the units, over say an MDF base suitably marked up actually is.

Did have one idea, the ones Mr C. made up had the stats on a strip along the back, the actual models lack the space for this, idea was to print up the stats as a full width strip and print then stick to say a 10mm deep MDF strip, which is then totally interchangeable between units given one base of hairy swine with spears is pretty much like another, especially in 2mm

Looking at someone who is doing resin figs, his pontics look good.

apart from the inevitable twitching it would cause for the 120mm wide x 60mm deep bases I'm tempted to adopt DBS bases, 15mm figures and movement trays to make the units from 3x3 or 3x4 units

I can at least see 15mm models

still think for 2mm a 120mm x 60mm MDF base with a suitable label on it is the way to go

More than happy to play in 15mm, I got more than enough Roman's and Barbarians to do it.
When EAP list comes out I see no reason our impetus stuff would not work either.

the 6mm stuff would work fine for it, same or different scale grid system as it hardly matters
