picked up a fleabay set, couple of saloon cars I liked the look of, but it also comes with some of the "classic" track, bit oval, not enough for an "8" or any crossovers, but bidding on a few bits to expand it - will never be a big layout (as I've already got one) but will provide a different challenge with the old track surface which was rougher.

better suited to the older cars without magnets as well

may get some of the "conversion" tracks via Col at some point as a few straight crossovers could be useful anyway

Won the extra bits too, so will be able to do something reasonable if not too twisty with classic track (only have the standard curves), do have a few crossovers though

Also now won something with the classic banked curves in, irritatingly they are 60 degree curves and not 45 degree so good for 180 degree curves and figure of eight loops with four at each end.

this means I can actually replicate the track I used to have quite some years ago..

1st lot turned up, pair of DTM (German touring cars series) beasties - a Merc and a Calibra. both have magnets, but also have rear tyres age hardened like glass - will be amusing to give them a try as they are (not run them yet)...

also have the first lot of the classic track, and its sand paper to silk against the sport track they use now.

Plus today with grandson round (and don't I feel old) the Lotus 77 has had a spin, works...

had a run with the two new Nascar ones, the second thunderbird is the same as the first, but a different colour, not quite as tail happy though. the Chevvy is very nice but objects to a track with the ramp in it

Can now do a small circuit of the classic track... discovered the classic power supply and controllers are naff though, not sure if its age of one or other bits or they really were that rubbish..

however the track is a lot higher grip, also brings in some straight crossovers, once the current job situation is resolved will look to getting some of the converter tracks as the old range has some very nice bits in it the new range doesn't

worth noting cleaning the old track up is serious work, the new stuff is way easier to assemble as well...

plus have a stack of the old style barriers which will make elevated tracks a lot easier to do

reconditioned classic checker board track, I quite like the worn paint so will be leaving that (probably).. lots of polishing needed..

needs a better decal softener applying and then a nice had wearing glossy top coat, some technical gubbins to fix, like stabilising the front axle and possible digital conversion then ready to go racing, if anyone else gets a car without a magnet that is
