Wben does the grey begin to get phased out for the yellow??? 1942?
I think so yes Eastern Front ones changed first and by 1943 it was official you use the yellow colour, but the start of the early period the grey works

Really enjoyed the game today, terrifying to face the green horde with the thin grey line.
Rest of the Stugs on painting table now.

Blimey I may even do the infantry.

Mistakes were made, in the end the final failure was a triplet of KV-1, two bailed, didn't remount and the survivor departed - that was about all I had left that was mobile - Called it as a victory for James at that point as he had a lot more mobile stuff than me and my only surviving infantry unit that wasn't crippled was holding home base.

mid war V4 Strelk are very different to V3 in how they play, V3 they would have hardly broke sweat rolling over him, the 4+ save is massive along with the inability to embed units and the ability for the enemy to pick out the specialists.

needs more thought, seriously miss the embedded pioneers

Conscript grade artillery needing a 6 to range in on troops in terrain didn't help - when they got the range they did the job - typically forcing Luftwaffe bods to fall back out of position.

oh yes and the terrain rules around hills appear to suck and blow, we went back to the V3 line of sight rules

Had a dig into the "Lessons from the Front" Errata & FAQ stuff

there is a specific change to note you go back to holding objectives at the start of your tur, i.e. the V3 method which makes a lot more sense

it also noted hills are "different" and use models eye view for line of sight, why they felt the need to take a line of sight system that worked and break it is beyond me

Def the save

3+ you feel they are invulnerable and happy to put in harms way, escpecially given their numbers

4+ I am hiding in a hole

Def want to work out a good inf force I have only faced a Canadian tank force with Strelk in V4 and it went badly.

Def need some practice.

Pondering a German force, this is not designed specifically to take on Reece, but it is designed to be capable of fighting an armoured foe (as well as an infantry one)

Thoughts welcomed

From the book of Bag Rations

Grenadier Company
- HQ
- Grenadier Platoon, 7 stands & 1 panzershrek team
- Grenadier Platoon, 7 stands & 1 panzershrek team
- Grenadier Platoon, 7 stands & 1 panzershrek team
- Grenadier Scout Platoon, 5 stands & Panzerfaust upgrade
- 4x Pak 40 anti tank guns
- 4x 120mm mortar
- 2x 80mm mortar
Support Units
- 2x Ju-87 with 37mm cannon
- 4x 105mm Artillery
- 2x flak 36 88mm guns
- 1x Sd250 Observation post

provides a good amount of infantry to hold ground, with teeth to deal with armour that gets too close, so likely just keep heads down and be hard to hit - should have the firepower to face off infantry as I don't think I'll be facing my own hordes any time soon and I don't think anyone else locally has Strelk..

scouts to hopefully get a decent position, and as a 4th infantry unit, not quite as punch but can still deal with armour that gets too close.. maybe

the 80mm Mortar are mostly to drop a small smoke bombardment, the 120mm can lay on some pain, as can the 105mm guns and we do have an OP who can lurk in a corner somewhere hopefully out of range. The 88 are designed to sit behind terrain to work with the Pak40 to get flank shots on things moving onto objectives, but to be invisible to long range fire, amazing how well they can close down part of the board and when out of sight be a royal pain to deal with for someone who lacks a lot of infantry (and they will have infantry around them as well)

planes are the oddball, not used them in V4 as yet but figure they have some value so will see how they go for that "reach out and touch someone" effect

best bit is I've got all of it, if I can find it

The tank hunting planes should be pretty good at forcing his tanks to close or you will blast their side armour.
I do like puma or similar mobile AT gun carriage for giving them something you worry about.

Would not like to have to break through the onion layers to get to the objectives.
