Glad someone is still getting on with stuff

Just started two HoTT armies

One is an Easter special and the other is using up some Epic Orks. Going to do an IG or Marine force to face em.

primed the lot of them, needs redoing as a few bits got missed, will see if I can live with it but may be a bit more spray needed.

meanwhile, found the ones done a while back these will be painted to match

Image
Ponies, only one lot of these so far

Image
Shotte, six units like this

Image
Pikes (don't tell him!), two lots like this

Image
Cromwell and an as yet un-named commander

Image
Artillery, there is a second cannon in a blister pack somewhere

all very glossy, all needing the dust blowing off, if Col has some anti-shine in at the weekend I'll get them looking better and static grass added before they get used for anything. not bad models, this was a "base & dip" paint job but on the whole came out ok

added 'anti shine' which has previously worked well but now only seems to have gone back to a 'semi satin' finish. trying a further coat of it, failing that its at "that will do" level and hopefully can get the basing done tomorrow.

have some Walnut colour gloss varnish for the firelocks to try out, takes about three days to fully cure though..

the first lot of these were done as "base & dip" for speed, wasn't 100% happy with how they turned out but with the gloss toned down a bit (needs toning down more) they are "ok" in bulk, not repainting them anyway.

that was the Army Painter Strong Tone Dip, in a tin.. this is not cheap for what it is, basically oil based wood varnish.. so this time have a £6 tin of oil based wood varnish.

its a bit thicker but having checked the still drying models this morning its come out ok, maybe slightly darker in places but will do

glad I stuck a bit of plastic bag down as most have firmly welded themselves to it with the varnish though it won't be hard to cut off, messy job doing it as well as the stuff runs - needs to be oil based as the acrylic varnishes dry too quickly, fine for brushing on though but dipping literally takes seconds. pikemen will need a brush as they won't fit in the tin and I doubt cavalry will either.

find out soon though, horses for 12 dragoons assembled this morning, typical warlord horses so they need a lot of filler adding, then the metal riders can be done

box of ECW Dragoons assembled and awaiting priming

12 on foot and 12 mounted, essentially two units depending on the game system, or for Pikeman's Lament actually four units as its suggested to have a mix of mounted and dismounted models in the six man units

quite nice models but not a huge variety to them, three mounted and three dismounted sculpts, then the command group for each

piccies once primed
